The Blog (by the now expert JB snr.)

Written by JB snr
For those unfamiliar with the process and eagerly awaiting the next instalment we feel it is important for you to understand exactly what we have to go through to bring you this fabulous distillation of our physical and metaphorical journey. Every blog entry takes up to one and half hours to write. Finding acceptable interest, humour and personal elements takes time given the potential global audience, then it has to be typed, edited and re-edited on to the laptop. Then the images of the day have to be downloaded form the camera (sometimes over 100 per day), then selected, adjusted and archived. When all this is complete "We" go online and upload the copy in the appropriate order and then the pictures, some into the body of the copy and some into the Picassa online album. Although Broadband Wifi is very fast it is not available everywhere, so on this train for example we have no access for 20 hours (however we will try to upload via the Bulgarian GPRS mobile network.) Normally we can only update every 2nd or 3rd day and the whole process can take 4 to 6 hours, eating into our valuable Father and Son bonding time (usually drinking local wines!)

So we hope you enjoy it and spare a thought for those bloggers slogging it across Europe the hard way and all for your reading pleasure. (Some people live their lives selflessly for the enrichment of others ;-)
